Devil's Triangle

Yes, I rode it.

Guilty as charged!

Mid-March, and the weather is perfect this Friday the 14th. After some overnight rain, the road is dry, and I'm craving some fresh air. So, I saddled up my Road Glide and headed East to explore a new area near Knoxville and Oak Ridge. #Slackertime!

A few sprinkles on the way, but nothing to worry about. The ride on US-70 was mostly uneventful, but TN-298 was a great warm-up for the adventure ahead.

Everyone raves about "The Dragon," but today, I decided to tackle the "Devil's Triangle" for my day trip.

Petros, TN, is the starting point for TN-116; I made a brief stop at the "Brushy Mountain Penitentiary." nearby.

I'll have to return when it's open again – the "paranormal" warning sounds intriguing!

Unfortunately, the Brushy Mountain Distillery was closed too, so that's another reason to come back.

TN-116 was totally worth it, with its twists, turns, hairpins, and stunning scenery. It demands your full attention, as there are no run-offs or guardrails in some areas. A great workout! My kind of exercise!

It ended too soon. It would have been definitely worth spending more time on that stretch than dealing with the traffic in Knoxville. I turned around in Oak Ridge and took the backroads, which were enjoyable even if not as twisty as the Triangle. I made a final pit stop at "Rock Island State Park" and its new "Trolley Stop," because no ride is complete without ice cream.

A total of 380 miles helped me relax and clear my mind (moonshine does the rest). The wind is picking up, and the weekend forecast doesn't look great (tornados!). It was a fun day, and I hope the rest of the weekend remains uneventful.

Happy riding! 🏍️
